Plan prices are one provider's published 2026 tiers (Strategic Micro Systems, Managed IT Services Cost Per User: A 2026 Pricing Guide). The in-house figure is the median salary for network and computer systems administrators (BLS OEWS May 2025 via O*NET OnLine, Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford, FL: $91,800) divided by 0.70, because benefits are 30% of total compensation (BLS Employer Costs for Employee Compensation, June 2026). This is our calculation. Licenses, hardware and projects are extra either way, and one person cannot cover every hour.

Florida breach notice rule: notify affected residents within 30 days. The Florida Department of Legal Affairs must also be notified when a breach involves 500 or more residents. The full rule and statute link are in our Florida data breach notification law summary.

IT support
IT support is the help a business gets to keep staff productive on their computers, phones, networks and software, delivered either by employees or by an outside provider on a monthly managed plan or by the hour.

IT support and managed IT costs in Orlando

Orlando IT support is usually priced like managed IT everywhere else: $100 to $250 per user per month in published pricing guides, and $300 or more for plans with a full security stack 14. Hourly support runs $75 to $250, and emergencies cost $300 or more 1.

Local IT pay sits below the national median. The Orlando metro's May 2025 median salary was $91,800 for a network and computer systems administrator and $54,430 for a computer user support specialist 2, both below the national medians of $99,130 and $61,860 4. Benefits make up 30% of private employer compensation costs 3, so an in-house support specialist costs about $77,800 a year by our calculation.

That is close to the top of the managed range for a 25-person office ($75,000). A firm of 40 or more people can reasonably hire a support specialist and buy co-managed help for security and after-hours monitoring. Smaller offices still come out ahead with a managed plan, which also covers vacations and sick days. Our managed IT pricing guide explains the variables.

Orlando businesses: tourism, health care and simulation

Orange County had 45,588 business establishments in 2023, with 8,829 employing 10 to 49 people and 2,260 employing 50 to 249 6. It also had 845 computer systems design and related services establishments 6.

The metro's largest employers explain most of its IT demand. Walt Disney World Resort employs about 75,000 people, AdventHealth Orlando 37,672, Universal Orlando 26,800, Orlando Health 24,978 and defense contractor Lockheed Martin 14,000 8. In August 2026, leisure and hospitality was the metro's largest sector in this group at about 301,300 jobs, ahead of professional and business services at 281,400 and education and health services at 207,100 (preliminary) 5.

What that means for smaller firms:

  • Hotels, restaurants, attractions and event companies run point-of-sale systems, guest Wi-Fi and booking platforms, often with seasonal staff who need fast onboarding and offboarding. See IT for restaurants, hotels and retail.
  • Medical practices and vendors working with the two large health systems handle patient data under HIPAA; see HIPAA compliance services.
  • Defense suppliers that handle controlled defense information have extra rules, covered below.

Florida data breach and privacy rules

Florida gives businesses 30 days. The clock starts when a covered entity determines a breach occurred, and written good cause can add up to 15 more days. When 500 or more Floridians are affected, the Attorney General's Department of Legal Affairs must also be notified within the 30 days 7. Businesses must also protect electronic personal information with reasonable measures under the same statute 7.

For hospitality firms that store guest names with card or ID details, that 30-day clock is the main reason to have a written breach plan before peak season, not after an incident.

Florida's consumer privacy law, the Digital Bill of Rights, has been in effect since July 1, 2024 9. It covers only companies with $1 billion or more in global revenue that also pass a second, narrow test, so small and midsize Orlando businesses are effectively outside it 9. Have counsel confirm where you stand.

Cybersecurity services in Orlando

An Orlando cybersecurity package should cover MFA, monitored endpoint protection, email filtering and tested backups. Add separate networks for guest Wi-Fi, point-of-sale terminals and office systems, and fast account removal for seasonal workers.

Florida ranked third among states for FBI IC3 complaints in 2025, with 71,843 complaints and $1.60 billion in reported losses 10. The deposits, refunds and vendor payments that move through hospitality and event businesses are exposed to business email compromise, a scam behind about $3.05 billion in losses reported nationwide 10.

Defense suppliers have their own timeline. DoD paused CMMC in Phase 1 on July 13, 2026; Phase 2 certification, planned for November 10, 2026, has no new date, and the schedule may change 11. DFARS 252.204-7012 and NIST SP 800-171 Rev 2 self-assessments still apply 11. See our CMMC guide, and for everyone else, cybersecurity for small business.

IT consulting and co-managed IT in Orlando

Because Orlando IT salaries are below the national median, co-managed IT is a realistic option for mid-sized firms. One provider publishes co-managed pricing of $45 to $175 per user per month, depending on how much security is included 12. A typical split: your support specialist handles staff and on-site issues, while the provider runs monitoring, patching, security tools and after-hours response. See co-managed IT.

IT consulting covers one-time projects, and one 2026 guide lists external consultants at $150 to $250 per hour 13. Orlando examples include segmenting hotel or venue networks, preparing a NIST SP 800-171 self-assessment for a defense supplier, replacing aging point-of-sale networks and planning storm-season backups. See IT consulting.

Choosing an Orlando IT provider

An Orlando provider should fit your calendar as well as your network. Hospitality and event businesses need support on weekends, evenings and during peak season, which some providers charge for separately. Ask:

  • Do your support hours match ours, including weekends and holidays?
  • How quickly can you create and remove accounts for seasonal staff?
  • Have you supported HIPAA practices or defense suppliers?
  • How is on-site time billed, and who holds our admin access if we leave?

If you also have locations in Tampa, Jacksonville or Fort Lauderdale, ask whether one provider can cover all of them. Our MSP selection guide covers contract red flags, and the managed IT services overview explains typical contracts. Each request sent through the form goes to one local provider or advisory partner, who replies by email within one business day.

Common questions

How much does IT support cost in Orlando?

Managed IT support typically runs $100 to $250 per user per month in published pricing guides 1. Hourly support costs $75 to $250, more for emergencies 1. A 25-person office would budget about $30,000 to $75,000 a year on a managed plan.

Is it cheaper to hire IT staff in Orlando than elsewhere?

Somewhat. The Orlando metro median salary was $54,430 for a user support specialist and $91,800 for a systems administrator in May 2025, both below national medians 24. Including benefits, a support specialist costs about $77,800 a year by our calculation from BLS data 3.

How long does a Florida business have to report a data breach?

No later than 30 days after determining a breach occurred, with a possible 15-day extension for good cause 7. If 500 or more Floridians are affected, the Attorney General must be notified within the same 30 days 7.

Does Florida have a consumer privacy law that affects small businesses?

Not in practice. Its threshold is $1 billion or more in global revenue plus an additional test, which for practical purposes rules out small and midsize businesses 9. Florida's breach notification and data security duties still apply to businesses of all sizes 7.

What IT do Orlando hotels and restaurants need?

They need separate networks for guests, payments and office systems, reliable point-of-sale support and quick account changes for seasonal staff. They also need a breach plan that fits Florida's 30-day notice rule 7. Support hours should match the business, including weekends.

Do Orlando defense suppliers need CMMC now?

Third-party certification is on hold. DoD paused CMMC in Phase 1 in July 2026 with no date for Phase 2, so contracts can ask only for self-assessments 11. Your DFARS 252.204-7012 and NIST SP 800-171 Rev 2 duties continue, so keep your SPRS score current 11.
